Meet the Judges

The panel of judges was comprised of four different experts in product development and R&D; each of these individuals has been involved in the field for over 20 years.  Collectively they bring a well-rounded view of technical, strategic, and managerial accomplishments as well as knowledge-sharing and community impact. Each judge independently evaluated and scored the nominees; winners were those with the highest total scores.


Wayne Mackey
Principal
Product Development Consulting, Inc.

Wayne Mackey served as Chair for the first two Management Roundtable Product Development Metrics Conferences and  has advised and spoken at all of them.  His expertise is grounded in over twenty years of hands-on management of large engineering, manufacturing, and procurement organizations. His management consulting is focused on product / service development, and he is especially effective in metrics, collaborative design, supply chain management and business strategy implementation.

Wayne has been a Principal with Product Development Consulting, Inc. since 1997. Prior to joining PDC, he worked in industry for 20 years in high tech, aerospace and automotive fields.

Michael Docherty

Mike brings to Venture2 over 23 years of broad-based leadership experience in general management, marketing and new product development. He has a proven track record in helping companies achieve profit growth through innovation.  Prior to Venture2, Mike was a Vice President and General Manager for Sunbeam Products, Inc. His previous career includes consulting as well as corporate positions in marketing and planning leadership at Ford, General Electric and Rohm & Haas. 

Jacquelin Cooper

Management Roundtable

Having joined Management Roundtable (MRT) in 1982, Jackie has extensive experience in developing conferences, seminars, publications and other information-based products for the NPD community.  She has also had the benefit of learning directly from the world’s foremost product developers at these conferences and workshops.  As a result she has developed a deep appreciation of product development excellence, knowledge sharing, and the value of both to organizations.  She brought this appreciation to her role as Chairperson of the MVP Awards Committee.

David Vermette
Editor in Chief
Knowledge Roundtable

As editor-in-chief of Knowledge Roundtable (Management Roundtable’s web-based knowledge service), David is responsible for researching and reporting on leading product development and innovation practices.  From 1999 to 2004, David was editor-in-chief of Management Roundtable’s Product Development Best Practices Report newsletter. Among other positions, David has been a Senior Associate with Goldense Group, Inc., [Needham, MA], a Research Associate for Product Development Consulting, [Boston, MA], and a Research Analyst with Thomson & Thomson, [N. Quincy, MA]. He is author of the product development white papers “Integration and Communication” and “Relationship-based Organizations Generate Success,” and has collaborated on numerous research reports, case studies and other articles in the R&D field.
