Rati Thanawala
is Network Planning Solutions Vice President and Chief Technical
Officer of Network Solutions at Lucent Technologies. Her Center is
part of the Advanced Technologies organization at Bell Labs. Rati
leads an organization of 300 Bell Labs telecommunication network
architects and engineers deployed in 17 countries that lead the
creation of Network Solutions for Lucent Technologies customers
worldwide. Her organization works with telecommunications service
providers to plan evolution of their networks. The work includes
end-to-end architecture, technology selection, network design,
performance/reliability and operations systems engineering, business
modeling, interoperability testing of multivendor networks and
creation of processes for evolution to next generation
telecommunications networks. For 1999, her organization supported
over 250 customer proposals valued at $10B.
Rati joined AT&T in 1977 and held a variety of positions at Lucent
Technologies. Her previous assignments include responsibility for
toll switching planning, 5ESS systems engineering, U.S. switching
business and market planning and Advanced Network Services product
management.
Rati holds a BS in
Mathematics from Lucknow University, India, and a Masters and Ph.D.
in Computer Science from Yale University. She attended the Program
for Management Development at Harvard University. |
