Blair LaCorte, VerticalNet

Blair LaCorte has served as VerticalNet’s Senior Vice President of Strategy and Electronic Commerce since January 1999. In February that same year, he played a key role planning and completing VerticalNet’s successful IPO. Recently Mr. LaCorte’s responsibilities have included building strategic partnerships with numerous companies that include IBM and Microsoft. In addition to implementing e-Commerce strategies, he has also formed strategic investments with high-tech companies and heads VerticalNet’s venture capital initiatives.

Before joining VerticalNet, Mr. LaCorte was an Executive in Residence at Internet Capital Group, specializing in B-to-B e-commerce companies. Prior to ICG, Mr. LaCorte was the President of Internet Technology Group and Senior Vice President of Partnerships at CADIS Inc., a software company specializing in electronic commerce and procurement in business-to-business markets. Mr. LaCorte has held various executive positions at Autodesk where he founded three divisions, the last of which was Autodesk Data Publishing, an electronic B-to-B publisher of engineering graphics for design and procurement. Thomas Publishing later purchased ADP. Before his Autodesk, experience, Mr. LaCorte was Manager of Worldwide Strategy and Market Planning for Sun Microsystems, and prior to that was a Senior Consultant at Gemini Consulting specializing in process engineering.

In 1996, Mr. LaCorte was named one of the top ten business to business marketers of the year by Business Marketing and Advertising Age. He received a B.A. from the University of Maine, holds an FMP degree with honors from General Electric and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth.. In addition, Mr. LaCorte also received the Technology of the Year award from Industry Week, and the Product of the Year award from NASA Technology.
