With its enormous population, low labor costs, and expanding economy, China represents staggering potential business opportunities for Western firms. But according to leading US - East Asian relations expert, David Everhart, these opportunities can be blown by making one of the following common mistakes:

  1. Executive team builds an inflexible strategic plan for China before understanding the business environment.

  2. Not enough homework.

  3. Time horizons are too short.

  4. Not spending enough time negotiating.

  5. Choosing the wrong investment vehicle, location, or partner.

  6. Not understanding how to motivate, mentor, and train Chinese employees.

  7. Poor cross-cultural communication skills.

  8. Not trusting your Chinese colleagues.

  9. Your motives are tactical, the Chinese partner's are strategic (or vice versa).

  10. Not spending enough time and effort building relationships.

To find out how to avoid and/or correct these mistakes, plan on joining this 90 minute audio session led by David Everhart on Wednesday, June 29, from 1-2:30 pm ET.

The session will include a 60-minute presentation with frequent opportunities for questions & answers.
