Doing Business in India
The 10 Most Common Mistakes
and How to avoid Them

Live AudioSession featuring
Gunjan Bagla
[BIO]
CEO
Amritt Ventures, Inc.

In recent years the CEOs of Hewlett Packard, Dell Computer, Cisco, Intel and others have visited Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi frequently. India, it seems, is always in the news especially with Bush’s visit earlier this year. And recently Michael Dell announced plans to “double our staff from the current level over the next three years” up to 20,000.

Why all this interest? India represents huge potential business opportunities for Western firms with its low labor costs and rapidly expanding economy. Developing and implementing a successful business strategy for India requires an accurate and pragmatic understanding of both the risks and rewards.

This briefing focuses on avoiding the 10 most common mistakes that Western firms make in India

  1. Choosing the wrong entry strategy, location, or partner.

  2. Enduring basis for Agreement is unclear or misunderstood by one party; getting the lawyers involved too early.

  3. Not understanding how to motivate and/or train partners/employees

  4. Executive team has pre-conceived notion of what will succeed without understanding the changing business environment.

  5. Time horizons for execution and ROI are unrealistic.

  6. Not doing enough homework, or worse doing the wrong homework.

  7. Ignoring cross-cultural communication issues.

  8. Panic at the first sign of trouble in dealing with India.

  9. Award outsourced work based on lowest quoted price.

  10. Believe the good (or bad) news about India in the popular media.

To find out how to avoid and/or correct these mistakes, plan on joining this 90 minute audio session led by Gunjan Bagla on Wednesday, September 20, from 1-2:30 pm ET.

Overall it is an excellent opportunity to listen with others from your organization. Not only will you learn what others are doing, you will have the chance to ask questions and receive advice about your unique challenges.

Invite your whole team to join you - the fee is the same as long as it's on one phone line, just put it on speakerphone!
